Pit Bull Bites Animal Control Officer on Craig Street in Springfield

Animal control was called this week for two pit bull terriers that were loose in the neighborhood.

Animal Control officers were called around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 6000 block of Craig Street in Springfield where two pit bull terriers were seen running loose.

According to the animal control officers, the dogs were allegedly aggressive toward any person.

When officers attempted to secure the dogs in a yard, the dogs escaped. One officer was bitten and deployed a conducted energy weapon. The officer received a minor injury.

When the owner arrived, the two dogs were surrendered to the county. The case is under investigation.
