Kingstowne's 22315 residents have donated about $20,000 to Obama, GOP hopefuls

While local elections are just around the corner next Tuesday, some Kingstowne residents already have their eyes on the presidential election set for November 2012 and are opening their pocketbooks to help their favorite presidential candidates.

According to records from the Center for Responsive Politics, residents from the 22315 ZIP code have donated about $20,000 so far to the campaigns of President Obama and the GOP hopefuls who hope to unseat the president.

The political contributions from 22315, as of Oct. 31, line up like this:

  • President Barack Obama (D): More than $13,000 
  • Republican Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts: $2,550
  • Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas: $2,500
  • Republican Herman Cain, president/CEO, Godfather's Pizza: $750
  • Republican Jon Huntsman, former governor of Utah: $250
  • Republican Rep. Ron Paul of Texas: $201

*Donations by residents of $200 or less were not available from the Center for Responsive Politics.

In all, Virginia residents have donated about $3.3 million so far to the Obama campaign, $1.3 million to the Romney campaign and $311,000 to the Perry campaign.
