President's Day Openings and Closings

All FCPS Schools will be open today to make up for snow days

Wondering what's open or closed on Presidents Day? We've created a handy list that gives you all the scoop on school, mail and trash pick-up.

  • SCHOOL: Due to the recent snow days, Monday is a makeup day for all FCPS students. All schools and offices will be open. Elementary schools will follow a full-day schedule with no early dismissal. SACC programs will operate on a regular schedule. Schools will be open for community use.   • TRASH: Monday will be a regular solid waste collection day for those customers who receive trash and recycling collection service on  Mondays from Fairfax County. All trash and recycling should be at the curb by 6 a.m. in order to ensure that it will be collected.

Administrative offices will be closed on Monday. The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) will both be open  normal operating hours on Monday.

  • PARKS: Park Authority – RECenters open on regular schedules. Nature centers and Green Spring Gardens are closed; historic sites are open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Frying Pan Farm Park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and visitor center is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • MAIL: The Postal Service observes the Presidents Day federal holiday.  All Post Office retail window units will be closed on Monday with the exception of the Merrifield Post Office, which will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Normal post office operations/schedules resume Tuesday.

Delivery Operations: There will be no delivery Monday, with the exception of Express Mail which is delivered 365 days a year. Regular mail delivery resumes Tuesday.

Collection Operations: Mail deposited in collection boxes in the following areas will be picked-up beginning 3 p.m. Monday.
