Public Invited to Speak with Park Authority Board

Residents are invited to speak Wednesday night at a regular meeting of the Park Authority Board.

The Fairfax County Park Authority Board is inviting county residents to speak to them about concerns or ask questions during a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway in Suite 941 in Fairfax, according to a recent news release.

The Board will hear testimony from residents on any park topic except issues related to litigation or personnel matters. Walk-in speaking slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Register via e-mail to Parkmail, or call the Public Information Office at 703-324-8662, or sign up in person at the Herrity Building, Suite 927, by noon on the day of the meeting. According to the agenda, the Board has set aside the first 15 minutes of the meeting for public comment.

The Board has also included action items on the agenda for Wednesday night's meeting including approval to advertise proposed fee adjustments and date of public comment meeting and approval of the FY 2014/FY 2015 General Fund (Fund 10001) – 5 percent Budget Reduction.

If unable to make Wednesday's meeting, the Park Authority Director John Dargle, Jr. hosts a bimonthly listening forum in the community where members are encouraged to speak on park topics in an informal gathering. The next listening forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, the Herrity Building in Board Room 941. The Herrity Building is located at 12055 Government Center Parkway.
