WHO’S ON THE BALLOT

residents will be selecting a state senator, house delegates, and Fairfax County schools and government officials.

Ebbin, McGhee: State Senate – District 30

and are vying for Patricia Ticer’s seat in the 30th district for state senate. McGhee (website, Facebook), a Republican, works in church administration. Ebbin (website, Facebook), a Democrat, is current a member of the Virginia House of Delegates.

Frederick, Puller: State Senate – District 36

Republican Jeff Frederick is challenging Democratic incumbent Toddy Puller in this southeastern Fairfax and Price William counties district. Puller (website, Facebook, Twitter) was a Virginia delegate from 1992 – 2000, when she was elected to the state senate. Frederick (website, Facebook, Twitter) served three terms in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Baker, Barker: State Senate – District 39

Republican  is challenging incumbent Democrat George Barker. Barker (website,Facebook) has been a senator since 2008. Baker (websiteFacebookTwitter) is an appellate lawyer specializing in Constitutional issues.

Sickles: House of Delegates – District 43

Incumbent Democrat Mark Sickles (website, Facebook) is running unopposed.

FAIRFAX COUNTY

Board of Supervisors Chair

Incumbent (website, Facebook, Twitter)is being challenged by Republican (website, Facebook), Independent candidate Will Radle (YouTube, Facebook) and Independent candidate Christopher DeCarlo (website, YouTube).

Fairfax County Sheriff

Republican is facing current in this election. Cooper (website, Facebook) is a former deputy sheriff lieutenant.  Barry (website) has been Fairfax County Sheriff for 12 years, though there is some controversy over as it relates to his potential re-election.

Lee District Supervisor

Incumbent Jeff McKay (website) is running unopposed.

SCHOOL BOARD

Seven candidates are running for at-large seats on the Fairfax County school board. In addition, voters will choose school board representatives for the local school districts.

Bond Referendum: Fairfax County Public Schools

Shall the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia, contract a debt, borrow money, and issue capital improvement bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $252,750,000 for the purposes of providing funds, in addition to funds from school bonds previously authorized and any other available funds, to finance, including reimbursement to the County for temporary financing for, the costs of school improvements, including acquiring, building, expanding and renovating properties, including new sites, new buildings or additions, renovations and improvements to existing buildings, and furnishings and equipment, for the Fairfax County public school system? Yes or no.

FAIRFAX CO. SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DIRECTOR

Voters may vote for up to three people for the position of Soil and Water Conservation Director, Northern Virginia District.

The agency's goal, according to it's website, "is to promote clean streams and protected natural resources."  It is not a regulatory agency, but provides technical expertise in soils, conservation engineering, water quality and erosion control.
