Where and When to Vote

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. People in line before 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Absentee Voting

Absentee voting started in July. The last day to vote absentee in person is Saturday, Aug. 20.  Absentee ballots must be received by the elections office by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23. Complete information on absentee voting is available on the Fairfax County government website.

WHO’S ON THE BALLOT TUESDAY

State Senate – 30th District

Three well-known and well-funded Democrats are vying for Delegate Patricia Ticer’s seat in the 30th district—Adam Ebbin, Rob Krupicka and Libby Garvey.  Del. Ticer is retiring after more than 15 years serving residents at the state level.

is an 8-year member of the Virginia House of Delegates.

is currently a member of the Arlington County school board.

is a current Alexandria City Council member. He also serves on the Virginia State Board of Education.

State Senate – 36th District

Jeffrey M. Frederick and Tito Munoz are facing off in a heated Republican race. The winner of Tuesday’s primary will face Democratic incumbent Toddy Puller, who has served in the Virginia State Senate since 2000. Puller was a state delegate from 1992 – 2000. Frederick was a member of the House of Delegates; Munoz is a business owner.

Fairfax County Sheriff

Two Republicans, “Wes” Kammerer and William Cooper, are facing off in the Aug. 23 primary. The winner will face current Sheriff Stan Barry in November.
