Virginia Expected to Drop Handgun Limit
Under current law, buyers can only purchase one gun a month
Prospective handgun buyers in Virginia may soon be able to purchase more than one handgun a month, the Washington Post reports.
The Virginia Senate is expected to lift a limit on buying more than one handgun a month in a vote today, according to the paper.
Pro-gun advocates say that the bill is no longer necessary because of required background checks. Previous bills have weakened the one-gun-per-month law, including one that allows holders of concealed weapons permits to purchase more than one handgun a month. Additionally, buyers planning on attending a gun show can apply for a one-week exemption from the ban, the Post reports.

“We’re going to become the gun distribution center of the East Coast, just like we were before,” Senate Minority Leader Dick Saslaw (D-Fairfax), a supporter of the purchase limit, told the Post.
