Weekend Closures At Telegraph And Beltway
Crews hope to open new ramp from southbound Telegraph Road to North Kings Highway Monday
Telegraph Road will be even more of a traffic nightmare than usual this weekend as crews work on a ramp to North Kings Highway as part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project. The traffic closures and lane shifts are expected to begin Friday, May 13, at 8 p.m. and last through Monday, May 16, at 5 a.m.
The closure will give construction crews the opportunity to open a new ramp from southbound Telegraph Road to North Kings Highway, eliminating the current left turn at this intersection. Without the left turn, the green light for Telegraph Road will be elongated and should alleviate traffic jams in the area.
After this weekend's construction, southbound Telegraph drivers seeking North Kings will have to take their first right after crossing the Cameron Run, and drivers turning on Huntington will take the second right.

The two southbound Telegraph Road lanes between the Interstate 495 Capital Beltway and North Kings Highway will close, and one of the northbound lanes will reverse directions for the weekend. Therefore, Telegraph Road traffic will move in one lane each way from the Beltway to North Kings.
There will be a temporary left turn lane for southbound Telegraph motorists to access Huntington Avenue while the right turn ramp is closed for the weekend.

The Beltway onramp from southbound Telegraph will be closed. As a detour, motorists should turn right on Huntington Avenue and then left on Richmond Highway to access the Beltway.
Duke Street traffic will be unable to access Telegraph Road. Westbound motorists will need to continue on Duke Street to take southbound Van Dorn Road to eastbound Franconia Road to access Telegraph. Eastbound motorists will need to take Duke to southbound Richmond Highway to North Kings Highway to access Telegraph.
Similarly, the Beltway's southbound Telegraph Road exit will be closed. Drivers should seek detours similar to those described above.
This weekend's work is dependent on the weather. If it rains—as it's projected to–the scheduled closures may be delayed.
