Construction on New Edison High School Turf Field to Begin Next Year

County is close to having all the funding for the project, McKay says.

The process of getting funding for a new turf field for Edison High School is almost complete. Construction on the new field should begin in 2014, said Supervisor Jeff McKay.

"We're going through the last stages of getting funding for turf fields for Edison High School. We don't want to disrupt the upcoming football season, so you'll probably start seeing construction some time next year," he said.

Turf fields are usually installed over an existing grass field. Some of the benefits of a turf field is that athletes can play games under any weather conditions. Having turf fields also reduces the risk of players being injured during tournaments.

It's also common for turf fields to eventually pay for themselves, considering high schools across the country that install them can rent out the field for championships and tournaments.
