Edison High School to Get New Turf Field

Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay's office confirms the proper funds have been acquired to move forward with the project.

Installing a new artificial turf field at Edison High School is currently going through the engineering phase, according to Linda Waller, director of communications for the Office of Supervisor Jeff McKay.

Waller said $450,000 has been transferred from the Liberty View proffer to Fairfax County Public Schools to help fund the turf field, and the project is moving forward. As the project progresses, other proffers will contribute funds to complete the project.

Benefits of a turf field include the ability to conduct sports events during inclement weather and decreasing the chances of injuries during matches.

Patch will follow this story and update it as it progresses.

That is great! Now if we can get funds to get bathrooms at the fields instead of Port a Potty's!

Now if only Hayfield could get one. When the new conferencing occurs this fall, we are the only team in our conference that does not have a turf field.

Bathrooms would cost more than the turf field.

This is great for our players, but I can't help but wonder about all the goose poop! O.o I do not know much about a turf field so I have this horrible vision of goose poop just sitting on top of the turf with no where to go! Sorry if I ruined anyone's breakfast!
