Fairfax Republicans Endorse School Board Candidates

At-large candidate endorsements will be chosen in July.

The Fairfax County Republican committee endorsed six candidates for district seats on the Fairfax County school board earlier this month.

Though the school board positions are technically non-partisan, endorsements from political parties help candidates garner support and votes.

The candidate endorsements are as follows.

Nellenbach is a Stratford Landing parent who was actively involved in advocating for full-day kindergarten over the last two years.  The Democrats endorsed incumbent Dan Storck.

 Epstein is currently the president of the Thomas Jefferson School High School for Science & Technology PTSA as well as a co-founder of local activist group FairGrade. The Democrats endorsed incumbent Jane Straus.

 Schultz, a founder of the Republican Women of Clifton, was actively involved in protesting the closure of Clifton Elementary School.  The Democrats endorsed John Wittman.

Nell Hurley (Braddock)  Hurley, who served as the president of Woodson’s PTSO, has been involved in a number of local school issues including, efforts to increase honors class offerings,boundary study discussions. The Democrats endorsed Megan McLaughlin.

Linton has served as the Fox Mill Elementary School PTA President for the past two years. The Democrats endorsed Pat Hynes.

  Ratnam, a Centreville resident, currently has two children in Fairfax schools and serves as home-owner association president. The Democrats endorsed school board incumbent Kathy Smith. 

Patty Reed (Providence).  School Board incumbent Patty Reed is the co-founder of Choose 2 Lead Women’s Foundation, a non-profit organization that encourages women to “discover their full potential” in the public sphere.
