Hayfield Sports Roundup: Varsity Football 5-1 in District

Football closes regular season Friday against Edison

Hayfield Football (7-2, 5-1 National District):

Hayfield defeated Falls Church 42-7 last Friday and clinched a playoff berth with the win. The Hawks have outscored their last three opponents 105-13.

Hayfield won four consecutive games and travels to play a struggling Edison team this Friday for the final regular season contest.

JV Football (5-1):

Junior varsity football turned in an similarly successful performance to its varsity counterparts and defeated Falls Church 48-0 last Thursday. The win gives the team five on the season and the Hawks will attempt to grab win number six this Thursday at home against Edison in the final game of the season.

Freshman Football (6-1):

The Hawks won their sixth game of the season last Thursday as they defeated Falls Church 36-0. The win was the team’s fourth consecutive. During the four-game win streak, the stingy freshman defense did not yield any points to opposing teams.

The squad closes their season out this Thursday against Edison and will look to cap an amazing season with a victory over the Eagles.

Hayfield Volleyball (5-15):

Hayfield grabbed a 3-1 Senior Night victory last Wednesday over Wakefield and closed the regular season on a positive note. The Hawks won matches 25-21, 25-18, and 25-16.

Washington-Lee defeated Hayfield 3-0 in the National District tournament on Monday.

JV Volleyball (8-8):

Hawk junior varsity volleyball defeated Wakefield 2-0 last Wednesday, giving the team its eighth and final win of the season.

Freshman Volleyball (11-5):

Hayfield defeated Wakefield 2-0 last Wednesday and closed the season with the same dominance they’ve shown throughout the year.
