Hayfield Sports Roundup: Hayfield Beats Edison

Hayfield cheerleading and cross country capture National District championships

Hayfield Football (8-2, 6-1 National District):

Hayfield defeated Edison 35-21 last Friday in the 2011 ‘Bird Bowl’. The win was the Hawks’ eighth of the season and solidified the team’s third seed in the Northern Region playoffs. Hayfield hosts sixth seeded Lee (6-4) this Friday in the opening round.

Congratulations to members of the Hayfield cheerleading and cross country teams. Both teams turned in memorable seasons which concluded with winning a National District championship.

JV Football (6-1):

The Hawks closed out the season with 36-34 win over rival Edison last Thursday. The win capped a successful season and was the team’s fourth consecutive. Numerous players on this year’s team emerged as playmakers and will contribute next year at the varsity level. 

Freshmen Football (7-1):

Hayfield’s freshmen team shutout Edison 38-0 last Thursday to end its season. The shutout was the team’s fifth straight in which the Hawks outscored opponents 166-0.
