Kingstowne High Schools Boast New Scholarship Semifinalists

Edison, Lee, and Hayfield all have National Achievement Scholarship semifinalists

Students at three high schools in and around the Kingstowne area have been selected as National Merit or National Achievement scholarship semifinalists.

Two students from Edison High School, Elena Alicea and Meron Belayneh, and two students from Hayfield Secondary, Christopher McCann and Ian Reardon, were selected as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. The four students will be eligible to compete for 8,300 National Merit Scholarship Awards.

234 Fairfax County Public Schools students were selected as National Merit semifinalists this year, a new record, according to FCPS.

Edison student Lina Abdelatif, Hayfield student Amanuel Mekonnen, and Lee student Nathaniel Getu were selected as National Achievement Scholarship semifinalists.

The National Achievement program recognizes outstanding African-American high school students. Its semifinalists compete for 800 Achievement Scholarships, according to FCPS.
