Why are Women Becoming More Interested in Firearms?

Why women are increasingly becoming interested in firearms?

For the past couple of years our nation has seen women increasingly becoming interested in purchasing firearms and becoming educated on firearms safety.  This is not a small spike.  It is more like a 65% increase that the firearms industry has witnessed, hence the pink and purple firearms that are now out there along with pink targets and accessories.  SHE CAN SHOOT, LLC headquarted in Centreville, VA was highly responsibile for initiating firearms education and training for women throughout the D.C. metropolitan area by using highly experienced and certified female instructors starting in 2010. Today, SHE CAN SHOOT has over 1800 members just in the Capitol Beltway area, and chapters continue to open throughout the United States.  The education and training is also passed on to each woman's family members and friends as they are allowed to also attend.

But why the spike and the attention?  SHE CAN SHOOT welcomes your story and comments.  Please feel free to also forward your story to www.shecanshoot.com on why you as a woman have become interested in firearms.

I just wanted to report that the business that runs the Women's Introductory Handgun glass was not one I would recommend to anyone. A friend and I both purchased Groupons for this activity and consistently looked at the class schedules as they were posted. However we noticed that classes were being posted a mere 2-3 weeks ahead of time, never being the same as the previous 2-3 weeks. I contacted the business to see if they could post a more extensive class schedule. They took over a week to respond to my e-mail, before finally saying they would try to post a schedule soon. (Incredibly unhelpful). When the schedule finally did go up, as I was checking every day, I attempted to make a reservation in under 48 hours from when they went up only to find they were booked. I then asked the business if they could do anything else to help us schedule a class. After they were unresponsive for almost 2 weeks, I e-mailed again only to receive an e-mail telling us there was nothing they could do. In 2013, when most people have very busy schedules and plan things far in advance, I expect a business to provide a class schedule in a timely manner. I also expect them to answer e-mails in under a weeks time. I do not think this is too much to ask. This "business" ran their operation like a child running a lemonade stand in summer I would implore anyone to think twice before visiting this establishment - save yourself the headache!

Robin, Sorry that you are upset with SHE CAN SHOOT. Anyone can go to Groupon and see the great reviews that we have had in addition to the several thousands of clients that we continue to serve throughout 10 states. We continue to receive repeat business, and frankly lemonade stands don't generate that amount of business. I urge you next time when purchasing a Groupon not to wait until the last minute to book a class so close to your expiration date. This is not fair to others who make a purchase and need a space to complete their course before their Groupon expires. As I stated in your email to me, I couldn't extend your Groupon expiration date. The schedule has been posted for the entire month. We wish you the best.
