It has been a rough season thus far for the Hayfield Hawks, as heading into last week, they had won just one game all year. But, as Coach Ron Palmer said, they can "see the light at the end of the tunnel."
Guard Jeff Erskine scored 15 points to lead the Hawks to a major upset over Mount Vernon Friday.

“Jeff finally started to play like a guard,” Palmer said.
Hayfield grabbed control of the game behind Erskine in the second quarter, scoring 21 points to take a 29-27 lead at halftime.

The Hawks wouldn't trail the rest of the game.
Erskine and the Hawks return to action Tuesday when they host Stuart.
