Edison Wrestlers Place Eighth At Northern Region Championships

Four Edison Wrestlers place in top six at Northern Region Championships

Edison High School wrestlers finished eighth overall with 62.00 points in Saturday’s Northern Region Wrestling Championships at Fairfax High School. The team could have possibly finished even higher if not for Brock Jacobson's injury, forcing him to default his match.

Edison, not known for their dominance of the mat, held their own Saturday, turning in a solid, respectable performance. The team’s performance was  well noted by Edison assistant Craig Lanskey,

“We did pretty well. Coming out of our district, we’re not a contender to win the region, but we’re a top seven or eight, so we did a pretty good job. For us, that’s really good. We had a kid take second, two in placers, we have two guys going to states, that’s good for Edison. We’ve got a young team coming back next year, we’ll be even better.” said Lanskey after his team’s final match.

Brock Jacobson, 41-4 on the season, placed second in the 119 lb. bracket, losing by default to Robinson’s Jake Smith. Jacobson was forced to quit the match after suffering a shoulder injury late in the match.

Jeremy Wagner (140 lb.) and Camilo Rodriguez (189 lb.) each finished sixth in their respective brackets while David Lazo finished fourth in the 285 lb. bracket.
