Smithsonian Folklife Festival Begins Next Wednesday

The annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival kicks off next Wednesday, exploring Hungary, languages and African American culture.

The outdoor cultural festival is free and features food, exhibits, performances and activities and takes place from Wednesday, June 26-30 and July 3-7. Generally the hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but check here for special evening performances.

The three cultural categories the festival will feature this year are:

  • Hungarian Heritage: Roots to Revival
  • One World, Many Voices: Endangered Languages and Cultural Heritage
  • The Will to Adorn: African American Diversity, Style, and Identity
