Temperatures Above 100 This Weekend

The heat will be dangerous on Saturday, but may not be record-breaking.

The high temperature Saturday will rocket up above 100 again in Kingstowne, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Under mostly sunny skies, it may reach 102 degrees on Saturday. The heat index on Friday could reach 103 degrees with a high temperature of 99 degrees.

Amazingly, the high temperatures on Friday may not break records. The record high at Washington Reagan National Airport for July 6 (Friday) is 103, set in 1999. The record high for July 7 (Saturday) is 102, set in 2010.

These high temperatures are moving in from the Midwest, where Chicago, St. Louis and other cities are baking today.

“A huge area of excessive heat warnings and heat advisories have been issued across the midwest...where the combination of high temperatures and dewpoints will bring heat index values into triple digits and make for extremely dangerous conditions,” according to an advisory issued by the National Weather Service.
