Alexandria Black History Museum, Happy Hour at Boulevard Woodgrill and Register to Vote

There's plenty to do this week in northern Virginia.

It's the last day of September. It's time to look for awesome Halloween costumes and consume a lot of pumpkin and cinnamon-flavored things. While you're doing that, take a little time to check out one of these events scheduled for this week.

Monday, Sept. 30

The Alexandria Black History Museum will host a free screening of “The Quiltmakers of Gee's Bend” at 7 p.m., followed by a discussion with Metro Stage Producing Artist Director Carolyn Griffith and guests, facilitated by Film Programmer Sydney-Chanele Dawkins. The event is free and open to the public. The film is 60 minutes long, followed by the discussion. The museum is located at 902 Wythe St. in Alexandria. 703-746-4356.

Tuesday, Oct. 1

Register to vote. A voter registration drive will take place 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Falls Church library, 120 N. Virginia Ave.

Pizzeria Paradiso Autumn Fest begins today at the Italian restaurant’s three locations around the region. All draft lines will be filled with pumpkin flavors, ciders and harvest ales. Wednesday, Oct. 2

Happy Hour at Boulevard Woodgrill includes $3 draft beers Sunday through Friday, except for the Belgian imports. House red and white wines are $3 on weekdays. 2901 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. 703-875-9663.

Thursday, Oct. 3

The Big Apple Circus brings clowns, trapeze artists and more to Dulles Town Center, 21100 Dulles Town Circle, Dulles, Va.  The circus is in town through Oct. 14. Bigapplecircus.org
