What's Open and Closed in Fairfax County

Plan ahead with holiday schedules for local government, parks, libraries, trash pickup and more.

Get all the details you need on when Fairfax County offices and services will close for the holiday week, and what you can expect for trash and recycling pickup, parks and libraries, community centers, bus schedules and more.
Fairfax County Government Offices: Closing at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Closed Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Fairfax County Trash & Recycling Collection: No collection on Wednesday, Dec. 25. All Wednesday and Thursday collections will be made on Thursday, Dec. 26. Have your trash curbside by 6 a.m. on Dec. 26 to ensure pickup.

Fairfax County Courts: All courts open Monday, Dec. 23, except the Circuit Court Clerk's Office will be closed that day. All courts closed Dec. 24 and 25. OnThursday, Dec. 26, all courts will be closed except for the Circuit Court.

Fairfax County Libraries: Closing at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. All libraries closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Fairfax Connector Buses: Operating regular weekday schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Operating Sunday schedule on Wednesday, Dec. 25. Resume regular weekday schedule on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Fastran: Not operating Dec. 24, 25.

Park Authority: On Tuesday, Dec. 24, RECenters will close at noon, and George Washington RECenter, nature centers, historic sites, Frying Pan Farm Park and Green Spring Gardens will be closed all day. All facilities closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25. 

Fairfax County Teen & Senior Centers: Closing at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Closed Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Fairfax County Community Centers: Will close at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Closed Wednesday, Dec. 25. 

Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 and I-95: Closing at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. Closed Wednesday, Dec. 25. Resume regular schedule onThursday, Dec. 26.
