Pet Costume Parades Scheduled for Saturday at Pet Supplies Plus and Greenspring

Pet Supplies Plus is putting on a pet costume parade Saturday to celebrate Halloween.

According to a recent news release, dogs and cats from the D.C. metro area are invited to dress in their best Halloween costumes for the "Treats for Tricks — Pet Parade & Costume Contest." The event is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday at the Pet Supplies Plus located at 7007 Manchester Blvd. in Franconia.

First place prize winner in the contest will receive a $25 gift card; second place winner will receive a $10 gift card. Winners will be announced on Nov. 3.

Area locals are encouraged to call their local Pet Supplies Plus in advance of Saturday to ensure their local store is participating.

Greenspring will also host its 10th Annual Halloween Pet Parade. In the past few years, the parade has been "standing room only," according to a recent news release.

Residents, staff, family members and friends are invited to join in the Halloween celebration as they watch pets in costumes prance about at Hunters Crossing Conference Center. The event is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Saturday and is sponsored by the D.O.G. (Dogs of Greenspring) resident club at the retirement community.
