The Howard Gardner School is a small, independent school located off of Franconia Road that specializes in environmental science and the arts. The school was founded in 2004 by Katherine Keith and Emily Pavot after they realized some students were not thriving in their normal school environments. Howard Gardner features hands-on learning and small class sizes. Students also work on field studies and community service projects throughout the year, and a new building has been added to the campus.
