FCPD is still investigating the series of Springfield assaults.
It has been more than a month since the last report (March 28) of an incident connected to the series of Springfield assaults by the so-called serial groper — so far, it marks the longest time period between incidents since they began in early September. Previously, the longest time between related incidents was 23 days, when the sixth incident took place Oct. 2 and the seventh incident occurred Oct. 25. Fairfax County Police Department PIO Lucy Caldwell recently said in an email to Patch that detectives are currently still investigating the assaults, but at the moment, no other related incidents have been reported since the last assault happened the afternoon of March 28 at the HomeGoods store in Kingstowne. More than 70 firefighters responded to house fire early Wednesday morning.
Fairfax County's Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating a fire destroyed a home early Wednesday morning at 6240 Willowfield Way in Springfield, according to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. The home is located in the Highgrove residential community. The fire department responded to the house fire at the single family home at about 5:34 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters arrived on the scene about four minutes after receiving the call. When they arrived, firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke engulfing the unoccupied two-story home. Maxwell Scott Eisenman, 37, was served with a warrant April 30.
The Fairfax County Police Department is charging Maxwell Scott Eisenman, 37, with assault on a police officer after the police-involved shooting that took place the afternoon of April 9 on Thurlton Drive in Kingstowne. Eisenman, an Alexandria-area resident, remains hospitalized in stable condition from a gunshot would he received durig the altercation, according to a recent FCPD news release. Eisenman was issued a warrant April 30 and was remanded to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office. At the time of the incident, police responded to a report of possible suicide in the 6600 block of Thurlton Drive. After an altercation, officers shot Eisenman — prompting one officer to perform CPR. Fairfax County police were called to the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center on Telegraph Road after reports of shots fired Monday morning, responding by saturating the area with officers, K-9 units and by searching overhead with a helicopter. According to the FCPD Public Information Office, the call came in shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. Hunting is permitted in an area near the location, so at the moment the police are trying to verify if there is any danger to residents. DWI patrol will be busy in Fairfax County for Cinco de Mayo.
With multiple festivals, parties and events such as the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo celebrations scheduled throughout the weekend, the Fairfax County Police Department will be busy on DWI patrol in the county. PIO Lucy Caldwell said in an email to Patch that it's likely many people will include alcohol in their celebrations this weekend. "We strongly encourage revelers not to drink and drive and to assign a non-drinking person to be the designated driver," she said. A DWI checkpoint is scheduled for the Sully Police District Friday night and another checkpoint will take place in the McLean Police District on Saturday night. Three-car crash closed down southbound lanes of I-95 Saturday from midnight until 4:40 a.m.
UPDATE 4:20 p.m.: Virginia State Police have identified the driver who was killed in the car crash on I-95 south as Ryan Cox, 23, of Alexandria. Andrew Choi was arrested Friday on charges of production and possession of child pornography.
Springfield resident Andrew Choi, 35, was arrested Friday for producing and possessing child pornography, according to a recent news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. According to court documents, Choi engaged in online video chats with underage boys between May 2012 and January 2013. The boys performed sexual acts via webcam and Choi recorded them using a screen capture program. Hundreds of other images and videos of child pornography were also discovered on Choi’s computers during the investigation, according to the news release. Choi is charged with production of child pornography, and will face a mandatory minimum of 15 years and maximum of 30 years in prison, if convicted. He is also being …
