The Celebrate Fairfax! Festival is less than a month away, and organizers have been busy preparing for the June 7 opening. They know you've been busy, too, so they've extended their deadline for Celebrate's inaugural photo contest, which offers $300 in prize money for the best photographs of the natural beauty of Fairfax County. You now have until May 15 to submit your photos. Full rules for the photography contest. The top 25 finalists chosen in the youth division (17 and under) will have their photographs displayed and will be given a free admission ticket to attend the festival. Festival Guide: Celebrate Fairfax! Starts Friday

Pat Benatar, Digital Underground, the petting zoo, festival food, carnival rides and much more are part of this weekend's county festival.

Four-time Grammy winner and multi-platinum selling artist Pat Benatar is headlining Celebrate Fairfax! this year. In the 1980s, she had 19 Top 40 hits, including "Love Is a Battlefield", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", and "We Belong." Benatar will play Saturday night at 8 p.m. on the main stage. Legends of Hip Hop and the Legwarmers are also taking the main stage Friday and Sunday, respectively. Several other stages will also host musical and other acts (see the full entertainment schedule for more information). As is tradition, the festival will also include dozens of carnival rides, food, entertainment, a petting zoo and more. Walk Like a Bangle: 80s Power Pop Group Coming to Celebrate Fairfax

Member Debbi Peterson talked to Patch about what it's like being known for so many iconic 80s songs.

Eighties power pop group The Bangles is coming to Celebrate Fairfax! Saturday. Known for their hits such as Manic Monday, Walk Like an Egyptian and Eternal Flame, the Bangles now balance touring and songwriting with parenting, as all three members now have children. After their break in 1988, the Bangles came back together in 1999 to record a new song, "Get the Girl," for the soundtrack of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. They then released Doll Revolution in 2002 and are expected to have a new album out this fall. We spoke to member Debbi Peterson, who plays drums and guitar and trades off singing duties with her sister Vicki Peterson and Susanna Hoffs. Celebrate Fairfax! Festival Starts Friday

30th annual event features three days of live music, 40 food vendors, rides, games--something for every age.

Has it really been 30 years? The Celebrate Fairfax! festival kicks off its 30th annual three-day run on Friday in Fairfax and it promises to deliver something for everyone. Spread out on 25 acres of the Fairfax County Government Center grounds, the festival features everything you need for a great time: Live music, food from 40 vendors, rides for all ages, arts and crafts, go-kart rides, nightly fireworks (at 9:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday) and even a petting zoo for the kids. The organizers aren't letting things get stale--they're delivering bigger and better by adding some new features this year: History Hill, the Extreme Zone featuring go-cart racing, "Greenology: The Science of Green Living" and the Craft Beer Garden and Silent Disco. …
