Water main broken west of Cameron Station.
UPDATE (8:30 p.m): Edsall Road between South Van Dorn Street and South Reynolds Street will remain closed until approximately noon Wednesday for completion of repairs related to Tuesday's water main break. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes for the Wednesday morning commute. --- According to a notification from the City of Alexandria, Edsall Road is closed between S. Van Dorn and S. Reynolds streets. This is west of Cameron Station. There is a water main break in the area. (The map at right shows the area of Edsall Road that is closed for water main repairs.) Residents may experience low water pressure while Virginia American Water works to fix the water main. Motorists may want to avoid that section of Edsall Road this morning.

The express lanes will end between Edsall Road and Duke Street in Fairfax County.
Construction on the new express lanes on I-95 has begun and residents of Northern Virginia will be affected by the project. The express lanes will begin in Stafford County and end between Edsall Road and Duke Street on I-395 in Farifax County, where a ramp will be built to carry motorists from the express lanes to the regular roads. That ramp is expected to end right outside of Alexandria. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014, said VDOT's mega projects spokesman Steven Titunik. In a news release back in August, Gov. Bob McDonnell said the project would cost $925 million and will be completed in partnership with private companies. Two men robbed the Shell Gas Station on Edsall Road on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Sunday, Oct. 9, in Alexandria. Around 5:05 a.m. two men entered the Shell Gas station located at 6451 Edsall Road, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department. The suspects were caught on video from the gas station's surveillance camera. The two suspects demanded money from the 27-year-old store clerk and one of the suspects displayed a gun. The victim complied and both suspects fled. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspects were described as black and 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall.
