Local Author, Musician to Visit Grounded Coffee this Weekend

Author Cynthia Thomas will have a book signing Saturday and local artist Janna Audey will perform Sunday.

Grounded Coffee is hosting two weekend events. Local author Cynthia Thomas will be available during a book signing 2-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Thomas is the author of Confessions of a Strong-Willed Wife: Journeys Through the Heart of Fear. Thomas' book focuses on modern Christian wives and doing what is right without being frightened. Thomas offers her own confessions about her life's journey in the new book. Thomas will be signing copies of her book during the event. Local artist Janna Audey will also make an appearance at the popular coffee shop for an acoustic brunch. Audey will perform her fun melodic music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Grounded Coffee to Have Health and Fitness Bazaar

Local trainers and fitness gurus will be available Jan. 26.

Getting fit or making healthier choices is one of the most popular resolutions each year. Now that we're a few weeks into January, you may need that extra boost to keep you motivated. One of the local coffee shops in Kingstowne will host an event to keep you on the right track to reaching your goal. Grounded Coffee Shop will have its 2013 Health and Fitness Bazaar from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. Grounded Coffee Shop Hosts Holiday Bazaar Saturday

Local artisans and craftsmen will sell their work.

Do you still need to do your Christmas shopping but don’t want to deal with big box stores? Then swing by Grounded Coffee Shop’s Holiday Craft Bazaar this Saturday. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, shoppers can find a selection of handcrafted silver jewelry, as well as sewed, knitted and crocheted items. There will also be photography on sale, according to the Grounded Coffee Shop e-newsletter, and much, much more. Grounded co-owner Candy Briffa said the shop has been hosting bazaars since it opened in 2008. This will be the fourth Holiday Craft Bazaar. Freshly made desserts, fresh coffee and games for families

The smell of freshly baked cupcakes filled the kitchen of Alexandria's Grounded Coffee Shop. While they were still hot, Candy Biffa walked in and added frosting and sprinkles. "I think what makes us unique from any other coffee shop is that we make everything fresh on the premises," Candy said. "And, we have a lot of space for people to hang out, unlike chain coffee shops." Grounded Coffee Shop, owned by Candy and Wil Biffa, recently celebrated its third year anniversary.
