In Virginia, restaurant inspection reports aren't quite as simple as getting a letter grade or an easy to see number rating to post in the front window. That said, we all want to know how our favorite restaurants stack up on cleanliness and sanitation. Inspectors grade restaurants based on critical and non-critical violations. A "critical violation" is one that "poses a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served." Non-critical violations are generally related to cleaning or maintenance. Restaurant Inspections

Restaurant Inspection Reports: Johnny Rockets, Magic Wok and Others

The most recently available restaurant inspection reports (through Sept. 25) from the Rose Hill, Kingstowne and Franconia areas.

"Ideally, an operation would have no critical violations, or none which are not corrected immediately and not repeated. In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any…

Realtors: Kingstowne Is 'Really Coming Into Its Own'

Kingstowne is thought to have good mix of urban and suburban

Temperatures aren’t the only things rising quickly these days. “For sale” signs seem to be popping up quicker than daffodils, and some Kingstowne  area real estate agents say that since the beginning of the year more of those signs are switching to “sold.” “As long as their house is priced right and shows well, it’ll sell quickly,” said Cindy Schneider, of Tom & Cindy and Associates. Schneider and Tom Pietsch have been partners working and living in the area for more than 20 years. Pietsch (pronounced peach) said prices are “where they were in the Spring 2004, eight years ago, so it all points up to a lot of people coming in for the Fort Belvoir base realignment. So, things are moving in real estate.” Prudential PenFed Realty’s Michael …

Kingstowne Burger King to Start Delivery Service Monday

Location will deliver to some Rose Hill addresses, but likely not all.

Rose Hill residents within a 10-minute drive of the Kingstowne Burger King will be able to order delivery starting Monday, Jan. 23. USA Today reports that Burger King has been testing out the delivery option in the Washington Metro area, hoping to expand the program and boost sales. According to Kingstowne Patch, the Backlick Road Burger King is already offering delivery, and stores in Burke and Annandale will begin delivering Monday as well. Be warned: Burger King will only deliver within a 10-minute drive from the store, so some Rose Hill locations may be deemed too far away.  Orders can be made at BKdelivers.com. A $2 delivery fee is charged for each order. Orders must be at least $8 or $10, depending on location.
