Metropolitan Fine Arts to Relocate to Hilltop Village Center Next Year

The shopping center is currently under construction and set to open in 2014.

The Metropolitan Fine Arts Center will move its Landsdowne Centre location across the street to the Hilltop Village Center when it is completed next year. MFAC confirmed the move Tuesday and Weingarten's updated site plan has MFAC listed for a 6,500-square-foot space at the new shopping center. According to the site plan, other businesses going in at the new Hilltop Village Center include: Wegmans will anchor the 350,000 sq. ft. shopping center and the plan includes 100,000 sq. ft. of office space. MFAC will also move its Fairfax Station location to the Lorton Workhouse Art Center in September. Such a shame that they have been unable to get any high end tenants into Hilltop (with the exception of Wegmans). Just another boring strip mall with cleaners and fast food. Tropical Smoothie to Open by Early June

The shop is currently finalizing county inspections.

Dwoskins & Associates, Inc. said Tropical Smoothie is scheduled to open by early June at the latest. Woodley said the permits and inspections process in Fairfax County is very long and time consuming. It's also inconvenient for the owners of any small business considering they still have to pay to lease the space while preparing to open, he noted. Tropical Smoothie will be located in a 1,400 sq. ft. space and will join the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, Blimpie, and Red Hot & Blue BBQ …

Tropical Smoothie Coming Soon to Kingstowne

The cafe is currently scheduled to open in May.

Tropical Smoothie is set to open at the Landsdowne Centre in the spring, said Don Woodley with A.J. Dwoskins & Associates, Inc. The space has a "coming soon" sign at the moment while the owners apply for the proper permits, Woodley explained. Currently, the closest Tropical Smoothie to the Kingstowne area is about 5 miles away on Little River Turnpike, and another is located about 6 miles away on Potomac Greens Drive. The 1,400 sq. ft. space at Landsdowne Centre is currently under construction in preparation for its opening May 1, Woodley said. Tropical Smoothie will join the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, Blimpie, Red Hot & Blue BBQ in the plaza across from the future Hilltop Village Wegmans.
