Getting fit or making healthier choices is one of the most popular resolutions each year. Now that we're a few weeks into January, you may need that extra boost to keep you motivated. One of the local coffee shops in Kingstowne will host an event to keep you on the right track to reaching your goal. Grounded Coffee Shop will have its 2013 Health and Fitness Bazaar from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. The visit by two of the players and the team's mascot is part of the Capitals Hockey School program.
Washington Capitals Right Wing Jay Beagle and Goalie Tomas Vokoun visited students at North Springfield Elementary School on Thursday afternoon as part of the team’s Capitals Hockey School Program. Beagle and Vokoun shared some of their moves with the crowd fourth and fifth-graders and demonstrated skills such as stick handling and passing to student volunteers chosen by teachers from the crowd. Following a brief scrimmage between a team of boys and girls with Beagle on the boys team and Vokoun helping the girls, the players donated a set of hockey equipment to the school. North Springfield Elementary School is the 12th school that the Capitals have visited this season.
