Police: Woman Followed by Two Men, Sexually Assaulted Near Hanover Avenue

The following information was supplied by the Fairfax County Police Department in the most recent daily reports released March 19-21. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

On the above map, the addresses are block numbers, not specific home or business addresses. The following items are from the recent daily activity report from the Franconia Police District of the Fairfax County Police Department. Sexual Assault (red on map), 3:30 p.m., March 20, Hanover Avenue/Monticello Boulevard, A 27-year-old reported she was walking home late at night several days ago. She saw two men standing near bushes on her way. She avoided them, but they followed and grabbed her inappropriately. They fled when she struggled and screamed. In separate and unrelated incidents: Larcenies (blue on map): No vehicle thefts were reported at the time.

Police: 15th Incident in Assault Series Reported

Fairfax County Police say groping incident may be the work of a copycat.

UPDATE (Jan. 14, 10:33 a.m.) According to FCPD, detectives investigating the series of assault believe the recent incident is the same suspect involved in 14 assaults previously reported in the Springfield area. --- A groping incident that occurred around 5:45 p.m. Thursday may be the work of a copycat, according to the Public Information Office. According to FCPD, a 30-year-old woman was jogging in the 3300 block of Briarwood Court when a man grabbed her, reported WUSA. She screamed and the man ran away. The suspect is described as either a white or Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30 years old and about 5'7". Springfield Residents On Alert After Serial Groper's 14th Incident

Series of 'grab and grope' incidents between Sept. 7 and Thursday afternoon has flummoxed Fairfax County Police.

The Springfield neighborhood where a man has "grabbed and groped" 14 women in the past four months was quiet Friday, with just a few people walking the streets on the cold but sunny afternoon. “My husband's mad at me," said Polly Robes, walking her granddaughter in a stroller early down Hibbling Avenue, the same street where at least two of the incidents were reported. "I said 'What do you want me to do, stay in the house?'" she said. "My husband doesn't like me to go, but I still go." Police Receive 14th Report in Series of Sexual Assaults

Another woman reported being groped near Hibbling Avenue.

Police said Friday morning they received a report of a 14th victim in a series of sexual assaults that have been happening in the Springfield area, according to an FCPD news release. A 43-year-old woman was walking in the 6000 block of Hibbling Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Thursday when a man grabbed her from behind and touched her. The victim said she turned and yelled at the suspect and he fled. She described the suspect as being between 20 and 30 years old and wearing a black jacket and black pants. Police are currently investigating the series of events that have been happening since September. Police: Possible 13th Victim Attacked by Serial Groper

A woman was reportedly groped Thursday in Franconia.

A 23-year-old woman was reportedly groped Thursday while walking on Floyd Avenue near Erving Street in the Franconia area of Fairfax County. Fairfax County Police Department Public Information Officer Bud Walker confirmed that police are investigating the incident, which occured around 9 a.m., and believe that the report is the 13th incident in a series of assaults in the county. The suspect is described as a six-foot Hispanic male with a close-cut beard wearing faded green pants, a black knit cap, a green jacket. This is the second reported groping incident this week. Police: 12th Victim in Series of Sexual Assaults

Woman reports being grabbed and groped Tuesday in Springfield, Fairfax County Police say.

A 49-year-old woman reported she was grabbed and groped Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. on Blarney Stone Drive in the Springfield area. The woman reported being grabbed from behind on the road before the suspect assaulted her, according to Fairfax County Police. The department's public information office said the woman is the 12th victim in a series of sexual assaults they believe are related. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30 and about 5-foot-6 inches tall. He was wearing a red hat, black jacket and blue skinny jeans at the time of the incident. I am in that neighborhood in springfield several days a week and let me tell you, I see women walking in the neighborhood with earphones on. I am always looking, watching, to see if anything is amiss. I cant help but wonder though why these women would walk around with earphones on, totally unaware of their surroundings. Fondler in Red Baseball Cap May Have Struck Again

Police say woman walking with baby carriage was grabbed and groped Friday in Falls Church. Description matches suspect in six previous incidents.

A man possibly related to six other incidents of fondling women on the streets in the Springfield area may have struck again. Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a 40-year-old woman Friday in the City of Falls Church. At 4:23 p.m. that day, police said the man walked up behind the woman as she walked with a baby stroller near the intersection of South Maple Avenue and Gibson Street in Falls Church. Police said the man grabbed the woman’s buttocks and did not let go until she screamed. Police are looking to see if this alleged suspect is connected to  similar incidents that happened in Fairfax County in September. Police Have Developments in Sexual Assault Case

Valley View area assault occurred in April 2011.

Fairfax County police are making progress in the case of a 62-year-old woman sexually assaulted, according to a lieutenant. At the Franconia District Citizens Advisory Committee meeting Wednesday night, Lieutenant Mark Hopson told the audience that there were developments in the case, although he declined to elaborate.  On April 12, a man sexually assaulted the woman near Waterlily Court and Valley View Drive, then fled. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The suspect was  described as having a tan complexion and a medium build.
