The Fairfax County Police Department is charging Maxwell Scott Eisenman, 37, with assault on a police officer after the police-involved shooting that took place the afternoon of April 9 on Thurlton Drive in Kingstowne. Eisenman, an Alexandria-area resident, remains hospitalized in stable condition from a gunshot would he received durig the altercation, according to a recent FCPD news release. Eisenman was issued a warrant April 30 and was remanded to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office. Franconia District commander Captain Jim Baumstark said the case will go to court.
At Wednesday's CAC meeting, Captain Jim Baumstark — commander of the Franconia District Police Station — told residents that detectives with the Internal Affairs Bureau are questioning witnesses and investigating the police-involved shooting that occurred around 4 p.m. April 9 on Thurlton Drive in Kingstowne. Baumstark said the 37-year-old man who was shot by police is still alive, and he thinks that is due to one of the officers who responded to the possible suicide report performing CPR on the suspect. According to a recent FCPD news release, the preliminary investigation shows that the 37-year-old suspect shot by police Tuesday afternoon on Thurlton Drive displayed an object that appeared to be a weapon when police officers arrived on scene. Police were responding to a report of someone possibly displaying suicidal tendencies in the 6600 block of Thurlton Drive. One of the officers on the scene at the time of the incident performed CPR until fire and rescue arrived and transported the suspect to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Update (9:27 p.m., Tuesday): According to an FCPD news release, at least one officer performed CPR on the 37-year-old suspect until Fairfax County Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene of a police shooting Tuesday afternoon on Thurlton Drive in Kingstowne. The man was subsequently transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Details about the encounter between the suspect and police are still limited at this time. No officers were injured at the time of the incident. A person was shot dead by a police officer after a stabbing
UPDATE 1:34 a.m.: Police have released the name of the man killed in the shooting. Joseph Anthony Croft, 49, was a resident of Springfield. Read more. UPDATE 8:07 p.m.: Virginia Tire & Auto manager Gabe Guarino witnessed the victim entering his store, as well as the shooting. He said a stabbed man entered the store, followed closely by a white male wielding a knife that was about six or seven inches long. The man with the knife demanded to know where the first man was, then left, walking north on Backlick Road. Guarino said he followed him, until he saw police approach the man with the knife. William C. Richards was arrested yesterday in Alexandria
Franconia Police quickly identified 18-year-old William C. Richards as a suspect in a shooting on Saturday night. Richards was arrested on Sunday, October 24th at the home of a friend, in Alexandria around 4:30 p.m. The Franconia Police investigation reveals Richards attempted to attend a party announced on Facebook, at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, 6710 Commerce Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. There was an altercation out front and a 21-year-old man from Washington D.C. was shot. He was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and is currently in life-threatening condition.
