Sixth Springfield Fondling Victim Steps Forward

Another victim of "grab and grope" came forward during a police canvass of area neighborhood.

A sixth victim in a string of fondling incidents has stepped forward, Fairfax County Police announced Wednesday in a news release. While canvassing a neighborhood in Springfield where the previous incidents took place, detectives were made aware of a sixth fondling incident in the Springfield area that was believed to have taken place around 7:30 p.m. between September 9 and 13. A woman, 25, reported she was walking on Cumberland Avenue near Dinwiddie Street by the Commerce Street bus stop when a man approached from behind, grabbed and groped her. He fled and there were no injuries that required medical attention, according to police. The woman described the suspect as white, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing …

Police Release Sketch of Springfield 'Fondling' Suspect

A fifth victim has also come forward.

Police have released a sketch of a suspect who has grabbed women and fondled them in the Springfield area in incidents that began Sept. 7. The latest incident occurred Tuesday. Police are investigating whether the incidents might be linked. A fifth victim, a 40-year-old woman, has now come forward — Fairfax County Police detectives say the the fondling incident took place on Wednesday, Sept. 19, also in Springfield.  The 40-year-old woman reported that she was walking along Hibbling Avenue near Exmore Street, the same area where this week's incident took place, when she heard someone behind her, according to a news release from Fairfax County Police.
