Metro Delays, Track Work Scheduled for April 19-21

Work will impact riders on every line starting at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through system closing Sunday night.

The four-week reprieve from Metro's weekend track work is over: Metro will perform system rebuilding work on every line in the system for the weekend of April 19-21. The track work will result in service changes on all lines beginning at 10 p.m. Friday. According to a Metro news release: Red Line - 10 p.m. Fri., April 19 through closing Sun., April 21 Orange Line - 10 p.m. Fri., April 19 through closing Sun., April 21 Blue & Yellow Lines - 10 p.m. Fri., April 19 through closing Sun., April 21 Green Line - 10 p.m. Fri., April 19 through closing Sun., April 21 MAP: Click on your nearest station on the map to see when the next train arrives and to learn about any alerts. No Metro Work Scheduled for Easter Weekend, March 29-31

Metro will not perform scheduled weekend track work during the Cherry Blossom festival.

There will be no scheduled weekend track work on the metro for Easter weekend, a courtesy to visitors attending the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. From March 23 through April 14, Metro is halting weekend track work activities with the exception of work taking place after 10 p.m. on Sundays, when ridership is light. Buses will replace trains on portions of the Red, Blue and Yellow lines, and trains will single-track on the Orange Line. Planning on catching the Metro to get around this Presidents Day weekend? Here’s what to expect. There will be no work on the Yellow Line this weekend. Taking the Metro to get around this weekend? Blue, Yellow and Green line trains will operate on normal weekend schedules. If you are taking the Red or Orange lines this weekend, you will want to read on. According to a Metro news release: Red Line Red Line trains will single track between through two work zones: Throughout the weekend, trains between Shady Grove and Glenmont will operate every 24 minutes.  Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, additional trains will operate between Grosvenor and Judiciary Square, resulting in service an average of every 12 minutes between these stations.  Customers traveling through either work zone should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time. While there is no scheduled work on the Green or Yellow lines this weekend, extensive work on other lines will make for some logistically complicated metro travel. Read up and plan ahead!
