Metro Transit Police Track Car Thief to Kingstowne Shopping Center

Metro policeman fires a shot at suspect in Kingstowne shopping center parking lot while being dragged by suspect's car, according to metro spokeswoman.

Law Enforcers Brave the Heat to Carry Special Olympics Flame

Local law enforcement officers participated in the Special Olympics Torch Relay on a sweltering Thursday.

With the heat index breaching the 100º mark on Thursday, members of the area's Police and Sheriff's departments participated in the annual Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. The relay, which began Thursday at the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial traveled down the Mt. Vernon Trail, through Union St. in Old Town, and continued on the George Washington Memorial Parkway.  Today's leg of the relay will bring the torch to the Marine Corps Base at Quantico. The runners, who were made up of law enforcement officers representing a large number of departments in Northern Virginia, were escorted by bicycles, motorcycles, and police cruisers.  The eight-day long relay will take the flame all around Virginia finally culminating in …
