Preliminary Hearing for Joshua Franklin Scheduled for Tuesday

Franklin arranged to meet two women using an online service then allegedly raped and robbed them New Year's Day.

Joshua T. Franklin — a 24-year-old Woodbridge man charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of forcible rape — will have his preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Reportedly the incident happened New Year's Day at the Extended Stay Hotel on Metropolitan Center Drive where police responded to a report of a man brandishing a gun around 6 p.m. Officers were able to track down and arrest the suspect just as he attempted to elude them. According to FCPD, Franklin arranged to meet two women using an online service, then allegedly raped and robbed the victims. The women, ages 18 and 25, did not require medical attention. Preliminary Hearing Set for Joshua Franklin

Franklin is accused of an armed robbery and rape that occurred on New Year's Day.

A preliminary hearing for Joshua T. Franklin has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at 2 p.m. Franklin is accused of two counts of rape, one count of use of a firearm in a felony and two counts of robbery. Fairfax County Police charged Franklin, 24, following an incident on New Year's Day at the Extended Stay Hotel in the Springfield/Franconia area. Police responded to the hotel around 6 p.m. after receiving a report of a man with a gun. Police are currently investigating whether similar incidents in other jurisdictions are connected. Police Nab Suspect in New Year's Rape, Robbery at Franconia Hotel

A Woodbridge man arranged to meet two women using an online service, than allegedly raped and robbed them.

Fairfax County Police have charged a 24-year-old Woodbridge man with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of forcible rape following an incident at a Springfield-area hotel. Police responded to the Extended Stay Hotel, 6800 Metropolitan Center Drive, for a report of a man brandishing a gun at around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Officers tracked down the suspect and apprehended him as he attempted to elude them. Joshua T. Franklin, of 14743 Alabama Ave., reportedly met up with two women at the hotel after arranging the meeting through an online service. Franklin allegedly produced a gun, sexually assaulted both women and ordered them to engage in sex acts. The women, ages 18 and 25, did not require medical attention. Police are investigating …

Police: Springfield Fondling Cases May Be Linked

Three incidents involve man wearing red baseball cap; latest incident involved a teenager grabbed and groped Thursday morning on Erving Street.

After a 17-year-old girl was grabbed from behind and fondled Thursday in Springfield, Fairfax County Police believe the case may be linked to two similar incidents. In each of these the suspect wore a plain, red baseball cap. Each of the three incidents have occurred on a weekday during daylight hours. Thursday's incident took place around 9 a.m. in the 5900 block of Erving Street. The teenager was walking on the sidewalk when the assault occurred.  The teenager described the suspect as either Asian or Hispanic, mid 30s, around 5 feet 8 inches tall with a black, close-cut beard.
