Pictures from the drained lakes, with more information to come
While Kingstowne avoided serious flooding in last week's rains, it faces another consequence of the storm. During the rain, the Kingstowne Dam broke, draining much of two lakes connected to it. As first reported by the Washington Post, the Fairfax County government has known for years that the dam would break at some point. We'll have more information soon, including reactions at tonight's Kingstowne Residential Owner's Corporation board meeting. I went to what remains of the lakes this morning in Kingstowne Park and took pictures around the lakes and the broken dam.
