Saving Up
If you and yours need to hunker down and save, make it a joint adventure, not a joint punishment.
Some people are natural savers and some are natural spenders. The same is true for couples. Some duos instinctively band together and put money away for a rainy day. Others assume liquid form; that is they take the shape of the container they’re in, and spend what they’ve got on whatever’s going on. It doesn’t matter what your natural leanings are, I think we can all admit that it’s important to save. But if you and your significant other are not naturally inclined to do so, does saving become a chore, or an adventure? It might sound ridiculous, but saving can be an exciting undertaking for young couples. A few years back, my husband Pete’s car completely died on him. There was no fixing it.
