Limiting the dance floor size will not reduce the problems at a few establishments where there is excessive drinking and the kinds of crowds that cause these problems. The people at the hearing who opposed this resolution were mostly those who enjoy ballroom dancing, swing, Carolina shag, etc., which require a lot more space than "free style". Their interests are getting together to dance, enjoy dinner and socialize with like-minded individuals. The places we frequent add to the bottom line of the restaurants w/o having the need for police surveilance or bouncers. My wife and I have attended these events for several years and have never seen any problems portrayed by the county staff where we dine and dance. It seems as if a couple of the supervisors want to shut down all dancing in Fairfax county by limiting the square footage of dance floors in restaurants, thereby making it impossible for our type of dancing to continue in the county. I hope the board of supervisors sees the folly in this and rejects it out-of-hand.
