Bio
I'm from Houston, Texas, but I had such a good time studying at Georgetown that I stayed in the D.C. metro area after graduating last May with a Bachelor's in International Politics. I currently live in Kingstowne, where I like reporting and making salsa.
Before coming to Patch, I interned at the Washington City Paper and Platt's, an oil trading newsletter.
Nothing makes me happier than reporting, so if you have any scoops about Kingstowne or Fairfax County, send them my way.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.
Politics
I'm a liberal not registered with any party, but I couldn't grow up in Texas with two Ayn Rand fans for parents without developing an unhealthy love for talk radio and Fox News, too.
I'm passionate about open government laws, especially the federal and Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
Religion
Casual Catholic.
Local Hot-Button Issues
I think the debate over what is Kingstowne's responsibility versus Fairfax County's responsibility will continue to be an issue, as well as problems like petty and not-so-petty crimes.
As in the rest of Fairfax County, I think the contraction of budgets for government services like schools the police department will also be important in Kingstowne.

Any chance you and the other Patch groups in Franconia, Springfield, Burke, etc can put a little pressure in the press to get all of these campaign signs down? It is bad enough that they litter the roads for 2 months before the election, I'm sick of looking at them. I notice the signs I still see up are of candidates that lost.
At any rate, time to get them down and make the candidates themselves personally responsible if need be.
