Fairfax County Animal Shelter Accepts 23 Dogs from Springfield Home

All 23 dogs, who range in condition from fair to very poor, are currently being monitored and cared for by veterinarians, according to a recent news release. Those who are in good health will be groomed, spayed or neutered, and treated for medical conditions ranging from cataracts to heart murmurs.

About ten of the dogs, ranging in age from six months to 8-years-old, will be available for adoption from the animal shelter later this week. Many of the dogs are Maltese and Bichon Frise breeds.

The shelter temporarily stopped accepting dogs last week following an outbreak of an unspecified upper respiratory illness that affected several animals. The shelter began allowing dogs again on Tuesday.

The shelter will kick off its month-long adoption promotion event, “Sunshine and Shelter Dogs,” on Thursday. All dog and puppy adoption fees at the shelter will be half-off.
