Police Release Results from Sobriety Checkpoint in Franconia-Springfield Police District

Seven drivers were charged with DWI and two summonses were issued.

Fairfax County Police have announced the results of Friday night's sobriety checkpoint conducted in the Franconia Police District.

Held Friday night at the Franconia-Springfield Parkway/Spring Village Drive, officers conducted a DWI checkpoint searching for drunk drivers. Six-hundred-ninety-four vehicles passed through. Seven drivers were charged with DWI and two summonses were issued.

Police do not disclose the sobriety checkpoint locations beforehand.

The Franconia Police District is 51 square miles and it includes Annandale, Springfield, Lorton, Little River Turnpike south to Mason Neck and I-95 east to Telegraph Road.

It also contains the I-95/I-495 interchange, Springfield Mall, Kingstowne, Lorton, Gunston Hall Plantation, Pohick Bay Regional Park, Mason Neck State Park, Mason Neck National Wildlife Preserve, Lee District Park and Accotink Park.
