Construction began last month on Hilltop Village Center, the planned future site of the Kingstowne Wegmans, Citybiz reports.
In addition to the 140,000 square foot Wegmans building, four retail buildings will be constructed that will add up to a combined 125,000 square feet. Hilltop Village Center will be located at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Beulah Road.
67 percent of Hilltop Village's space has already been leased. Wegmans expects to open in the spring of 2014, according to Citybiz.
A lawsuit opposing the site was rejected in the Virginia Supreme Court last August. In November, much of the site was purchased by Texas-based Weingarten Realty for $13.6 million.
