The device is described as "an unusual looking box with tape and wires."
Police were called to the scene of a Franconia home around 6:30 p.m. Monday to respond to the discovery of an explosive device, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department.

Hi RJ,
Thanks for your comment. Police say it was an explosive device in a box, so the box was a bomb.

About a year ago this same individual was high on a prescription drug and who knows what else. He thought he was playing grand theft auto and started a fire in his room and when the firefighters came in the home to extengish the fire, he tried to attack the firefighters.

That is quite the story. Thanks for the link, RJ.
As far as the new renter goes, police say the house was unoccupied and for sale.

RJ it is true this person left the country last year because of felony charges no related to the fire. No one has lived in the residence since. Go look up his criminal history if you want. The last charge was failure to appear, another felony.

And believe it or not this guy was a normal average person before the hardcore drugs got to him and got him in lots of trouble.

The odd part about this is that the house has been on the market since February 11, 2012 and had a pending contract on February 27, 2012 that did not go through so people have been in that house recently before the cleaning crew.
