Before the Bulldozers: Pictures from Lewin Park

Photos from a vacant Kingstowne neighborhood

Lewin Park, a neighborhood at the corner of Beulah and the Franconia-Springfield Parkway, doesn't have any residents anymore. Most of its 20 homes are boarded up, and the streets are covered with dead leaves.

Eventually, Lewin Park will become Liberty View, a development with a hotel and 750,000 square feet of office space in four buildings, according to developer Monument Reality. Natasha Stancill-Richman, a spokesperson for Monument, wrote in an email that the company will have more information about the project in 2012.

Until then, here's how Lewin Park looks—before the construction begins but after the residents left.
