5. Red Hot & Blue Robbed Saturday Night

Fairfax County police are investigating a report of an armed robbery that occurred around 11 p.m. at Red Hot & Blue located at the Landsdowne Centre in Kingstowne, according to a recent FCPD news release.

Two males reportedly approached a 33-year-old female employee in the back office of the restaurant shortly after closing. The suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money.

4. Police: Woman Attacked While Jogging

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, a woman jogging along Hayfield Road was grabbed from behind by an unknown man, according to a recent FCPD news release.

During the attack, which occurred as the woman was approaching Old Telegraph Road, the woman used mace that she carried for protection and fought off the suspect.

3. Wegmans Construction on Schedule for 2014 Completion

For the longest time, the Wegmans construction site at the corner of Beulah Street and Telegraph Road was just a pile of dirt. Through the rain and the snow, it seemed that not much progress was being made.

However, construction at the new Hilltop Village Center is moving along according to schedule. Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay recently told Patch the new shopping center should be ready for business in 2014 as planned.

2. Prostitute Raped, Beaten, Robbed at Van Dorn Hotel

A prostitute was raped, beaten and robbed at a hotel on Van Dorn Street, according to Fairfax County Police. 

One of the men who has been arrested and charged is from the Alexandria area.

The 25-year-old woman from California was staying at a local hotel on Thursday, June 20, in the 5700 block of Van Dorn Street "for the purposes of online solicitation of adult services," police said in a news release issued Tuesday.

1. Springfield Mall Renovations on Schedule to be Completed by 2014

From the looks of it in its current state, the transformation from Springfield Mall to Springfield Town Center is moving slowly (or its just your anticipation getting the best of you). The demolition is still underway, and according to Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay, the project is on schedule to be completed by 2014 as planned.
