Construction on Wegmans, Hilltop Village Center Continues to Progress

The new Hilltop Village Center is expected to be completed in 2014.

Residents and drivers going by the soon-to-be Hilltop Village Center site can see the structure quickly going up at the corner of Telegraph Road and Beulah Street.

As for leasing, no further information has been provided about businesses that plan to be a part of the shopping center once it's completed. Phone calls to the property manager at Weingarten Realty were not returned.

Businesses expected at the shopping center that have been announced include GNC, PNC Bank, Kim Wet Cleaners, Mattress Warehouse, Elevation Burger, SportClips, Panda Express, The Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grill and Wegmans as the anchor store. For more information on tenants, visit Weingarten Realty's webpage for Hilltop Village Center.

Previously, Patch readers have commented on their disappointment in the businesses going in at Hilltop Village Center as they expected a few high end retail options.

"AND" commented on a previous Patch story that the businesses announced — including Panda Express and Mattress Warehouse — are "all crap low end retail."

Wegmans also proffered to build recreational amenities adjacent to the soon-to-be Hilltop Village Center that will include an adult soccer field, youth baseball field, pavilion, playground, an open play area and an associated parking lot. Readers have also expressed mixed opinions about this addition to the new shopping center as well.

In July, Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay said the project is on schedule to be completed in 2014 around the same time as Springfield Town Center.
