5-Year-Old Abducted from Bedroom, Assaulted

Suspect is still at large

A five-year-old girl was abducted from her bed and assaulted early Saturday morning. With the suspect still at large, residents are urged to lock their doors.

Sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. Saturday morning, a man broke into the girl’s home on the 7000 block of Brocton Court in Springfield. He pulled the girl from her bed and took her to a nearby location. After the suspect let the girl go, she found her way back to her home around 4 a.m. She had sustained non-life-threatening trauma to her upper body during the abduction.

Police were called to the home around 4 a.m. The victim told detectives a man had abducted her , but was taken to a hospital before she could give more information, according to Fairfax County Police Department spokesperson Officer Don Gotthardt.

At this time, the only thing known about the suspect is that he is a man. Gotthardt said detectives are investigating whether there was a sexual motive to the crime. Gotthardt also did not have more specific information about the “nearby location” where the suspect took the victim.

“All she could really relay was that it was definitely a man,” Gotthardt said.
