Little League: A's Outlast Nationals, 9-8

Teams trade runs throughout game

An update on the Central Springfield Little League AA team, the A's, by Arlene Connin.

Pitchers had a tough day during the game between A's and the Nationals, as the two teams put up 17 runs combined in a 9-8 A's win.

The two teams combined for seven hits in the game.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game. A's took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory.

Dalton Wessel recorded the win for A's even though he allowed five runs over three innings. The A's pitcher struck out six, walked five and surrendered four hits.

A's was sparked by Brian Borda and Wessel, who teamed up for two hits and two RBIs.

The Nationals jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A single by Hunter S, bringing home Evan F started the inning off. The Nationals then tacked on more runs and scored on a two-run double by Joseph L and the next runner scored on an RBI single by Thomas C.

The Nationals survived A's' surge and put up three runs of their own in the fourth. The Nationals scored on a walk by William P, a walk by Kirk M, and a walk by another teammate.

A's went up for the duration of the game after the fifth inning. Additional runs came from an error, a groundout by Seth Anders, and a walk by Palmer Farrar.
