Farmer's Market, Comedy Night and the Arlington County Fair

Events in Kingstowne to keep you busy this weekend.

As always, there's plenty to do with your weekend in NoVa if you're not planning to spend it relaxing at home. Here are some local events in Virginia and D.C. to help you pass the time.

  • Night of ComedyHave a few laughs at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. Howard G will perform standup comedy starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Howard G is best known for his role in the HBO series The Wire and has performed standup for Showtime At The Apollo Russell Simmons’s HBO Def Comedy Jam and BET's ComicView.
  • Kingstowne Farmer's Market. Stop by the Kingstowne Farmer's Market Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to purchase your local goods and produce.
  • The 2013 Arlington County Fair opened Wednesday, with outdoor rides, food vendors and piglet races the main draws on its first night. The fair is held at and around the Thomas Jefferson Community Center at 3501 Second St. S. and runs through Sunday.
  • Edison HS Wrestling Car Wash. The Edison Eagles wrestling team will have a car wash at the school starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
  • Penny Pig's 2nd Birthday Bash at Nalls Produce. Celebrate Penny the Pig's 2nd birthday at Nalls Produce on Beulah Street in Kingstowne. Nalls will host a party for Penny from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.
